AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HISTORY AND LEGAL STUDIES TO GRANT SCHOLARSHIPS TO PHI THETA KAPPA MEMBERS
SALEM, NH — The American College of History and Legal Studies announced today that scholarships are available for members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society who plan to transfer to the college and enroll for the fall semester of 2011.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is limited to community college students who have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher, hold leadership positions on campus, and are making a difference through community service. The American College of History and Legal Studies offers the junior and senior years of undergraduate study and it grants bachelor’s degrees.
“We are pleased to reward those who have met the high standards of Phi Theta Kappa and are choosing to finish their bachelor’s degrees at the American College of History and Legal Studies, which has set high standards for excellence,” said Michael Chesson, founding professor and dean. “We recognize that Phi Theta Kappa members have the ability to succeed at the ACHLS, where the curriculum is rigorous.”
The ACHLS, which was created by the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover, is unlike any other college in the country as it focuses exclusively on the study of American history. The high quality education, which stresses critical thinking and analysis, will allow graduates to compete with anybody in today’s competitive marketplace. It will make them become better writers and more fluent public speakers.
Qualified students gain early admission into the Massachusetts School of Law and may combine their senior year of college with their first year of law school, saving both time and tuition, as they earn their bachelor’s and law degrees. Those who wish to attend another law school or enter a different field will be fully prepared to succeed upon graduation.
The rigorous education at the American College of History and Legal Studies is also affordable. Tuition is only $10,000 per year and the scholarships are up to $5,000 per year.
