ACHLS Announces One-Half Tuition Remission Scholarships
SALEM, NH - The American College ofHistory and Legal Studies in Salem, NH
announced last week that it will award one-half, tuition remission scholarships for
qualified applicants who enroll in the Fall, 2010 semester. The tuition remission
scholarships will reduce the yearly tuition of $10,000 to $5,000 for students who qualify
for scholarships.
"We are pleased to offer these tuition remission scholarships," said Founding Dean
Lawrence Velvel. "They are being given in recognition ofthe fmancial hardships that so
many people are suffering because ofthe terrible recession in the economy."
The American College ofHistory and Legal Studies, which is being created by the
Massachusetts School ofLaw, is a completion college offering the junior and senior years
ofundergraduate studies. It will be the only college in the country to focus solely on
history. ACHLS is opening in August 2010. All teaching will be done by a combination
ofthe MSL discussion method and Phillips Exeter Academy's Harkness Table method.
The ACHLS offers ''pathways to law school," including guaranteed admission to the
Massachusetts School of Law for students with good GPAs. Such admission can occur
after the junior year for students who get good grades at ACHLS.
